As said bug BMO#2060, sync UI can load system proxy to sync data. But for the
servers which do not need proxy, it still loads proxy for it, resulting in
failure in data sync. Thus users may need to disable the system proxy again.

So an interface exposed to user for use proxy or not will be better.

This sounds to me like a deficiency in the libsoup-gnome-2.4 library: if the
proxy there is needed only for some hosts, then it should know that and only
use it for those.

We need to find out how this is handled in other applications.

It is not just the GUI: the "useProxy" setting must become tri-state (yes, no,
system default).

Overall I consider this a low priority item because the situation (SyncML
server inside a company Intranet) is not part of the normal deployment of
(consumer) NetBooks. It is of course very important for us at Intel! ;-)

The design of all our apps for 2.0 assumes that if you want to use a proxy, you
want to use it for everything. We do not currently support per app proxy
settings as patrick says it's not really a good fit with our users so it's not
a high priority..

revise the summary

So old feature request it is. :)
Since SyncEvolution can use system http well (in many situation, user does not
need proxy at all), I can accept no such setting in current GUI design.

Change it to enhancement. and welcome comments.

Yeah, I agree. For moblin, loading system http proxy sounds sufficient.

In non-Moblin OS, proxy for sync has to be configured via "useProxy" and
"proxyHost" in config.ini for each service. They don't load system http proxy.
Then such kind of interface is not needed neither.

I agree. We might even go one step further and close it completely: in my GNOME
settings I can set a proxy and also hosts for which it doesn't apply. I still
think libsoup should handle that automatically, without having to disable the
system proxy in SyncEvolution.
