That implies that Ryun missed days. Missed in the sense that he wasn't
schedule to train every day. And probably (maybe somebody has access to a
training diary and knows for sure) didn't train heavily year-round.

Nope. First race of sophomore year (HS), Ryun lost ... 4:26 I believe (it's
on the web though for everyone to look at). After that, he said that the
pressure never let up for him to win and eventually to break 4:00. Which he
did of course, just a year later. Until 1999, he held the Sophomore,
junior, and senior class records for the Mile (4:07, 3:59, 3:55) and the
Jun./Sen. marks for the 1500m.

To be in that kind of shape for 3 straight years (he was a scrub as a
freshman) ... took year-round training. And, anyone who has looked at
Timmons' workouts knows that "heavily" is a word you can use to describe
every one of them.

Also, considering that he ran 4:07 and 9:0? indoors implies that he was very
fit even during February and March.

As far as meets competed in .... go look for yourself at the site that
peddles the Ryun video:

www.ryun.com or www.jim-ryun.com or something ... pretty interesting stuff.
The splits are kind of sketchy (they don't add up sometimes), but it is
interesting for the distance fan.
