From Tennessee SIDMeanwhile, the Tennessee distance medley relay outdueled Michigan in a good
race in the Sunshine State. Returning from an injury-induced indoor redshirt
season, Marc Sylvester looked more than capable leading off and opening up a
lead on the 1,200m leg. Sylvester passed the baton to newcomer Alonzo
Williams, who held his own on the second leg. Kenny Schappert kept the Vols
tied for the lead at the final handoff to Farragut native Eric Bell. Bell
battled Michigan’s runner for the lead before kicking in the final 200m to
seal the Tennessee victory with a 9:54.18 total time.
