Fyi.

This is a worthwhile survey if you get the time.

GEOSS is a global framework that is being established with an aim to
share Earth Observation data (image and vector) via Open Spatial
Standards with Open Access to the data.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I am writing on behalf of Dr Sue Barrell, Australia’s representative
on the GEO Executive Committee, to invite you to participate in a
survey about Australia’s contribution to GEOSS.

About GEO

The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) is coordinating efforts to build
a Global Earth Observation System of Systems, or GEOSS
<http://www.earthobservations.org/geoss.shtml> . GEOSS commenced in
2005 with the objective of achieving comprehensive, coordinated and
sustained observations of the Earth system, in order to improve
monitoring of the state of the Earth, increase understanding of Earth
processes, and enhance prediction of the behaviour of the Earth
system. Now halfway through its 10-year implementation, we’re
interested in finding out the extent to which Australia has embraced
GEOSS.

About the survey

The survey has been designed to help gain a better picture of
Australia’s involvement in GEOSS, and therefore better represent
Australia’s interests in the GEO Executive Committee.

We wish to obtain a broad spectrum of responses from a variety of
sectors and accordingly gained your email address from a deep trawl of
possibly relevant lists of contacts and websites; we are hopeful that
this survey is relevant to your work interests. Our survey can handle
multiple responses from the one organisation, so please feel free to
on-forward as you see fit, however, it is requested that it is only
sent to Australian representatives or agencies.

The survey can be found at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8Y65W8G
<http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8Y65W8G> and should take no more than 5
mins to complete.

It is requested that the survey is completed by Thursday 27th May 2010.

Many thanks for you contribution,

Yours sincerely,

Liz B
