> excuse" I wouldn't count on it to avoid a lot of inconvenience. I know > someone who had 5 police officers erase his camera for taking pictures > of cc-tv around the south bank of the thames... which is technically > illegal (erasing the pictures without due process), but did mean they > then just let him go. Not to mention it is also highly inefficient unless done properly :) 1 or 10 officers would probably make no difference.
Deleting all pictures or quickly formating (=default) the memory card just erases the entries in FAT table. Scanning the memory media with a dedicated tool [1] in a card reader can recover all pictures that haven't been overwritten. Did that several times after friends accidentally formatted their SD cards and were smart enough to ask me before filling the card with new photos. Buying new SD cards on vacation is a viable option for preserving precious memories. Don't tell that to officers though! If they do "erase" your memory card remember to pretend to be sad! :) Stefan [1] http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec _______________________________________________ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/talk
