Hi everybody Thomas Wood setup a dev snapshot of the OSM wiki and in the meantime we got a working prototype for an OSM wiki supported by Semantic MediaWiki up and running, see [1]. It would decrease the amount of redundant information about map features and it would provide standardized data exchange, see the sample RDF export [2].
I opened a discussion on Talk:Wiki [3] on whether and how this approach could be moved to wiki.openstreetmap.org. @Yoren, Denny: do you have experience with SMW under load? For a wiki which heavily uses templates, parser functions and inline queries? -- Karl [1] http://dev.openstreetmap.org/~edgemaster/semwiki/index.php/Main_Page [2] http://dev.openstreetmap.org/~edgemaster/semwiki/index.php/Main_Page#Sample_RDF_Exports [3] http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Talk:Wiki#Managing_Map_Features_using_Semantic_MediaWiki -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: Denny Vrandecic [mailto:d...@aifb.uni-karlsruhe.de] Gesendet: Freitag, 9. Yaron offers hosting of Semantic MediaWikis, and I wanted to connect you in case that makes sense and if you need help or a place to run a semantically enabled copy of OSM for testing purposes. Could make a lot of sense :) If you have more questions, feel free to ask us. If there's something I could do I could take a look at it (just my time is quite constrained, as I am currently in thesis-writing-mode) Cheers, denny Karl Guggisberg wrote: > Hi denny > > I had a second look at the documentation and I now understand how Semantic > MediaWiki can help us. > > Assume map features were described by three attributes: a key, a value and a > description, like > {MapFeature key="foo" value="bar" description="desc"} > > Then we would create a Wiki page [[Tag:foo=bar]] (as we do today): > > ----------- beginwiki of [[Tag:foo=bar]] bla bla bla > > <!-- the properties of Semantic MediaWiki --> [[key::foo]] > [[value::bar]] [[description::desc]] > ----------- endwiki > > On the [[Map Features]] page we could ask for this data (the following > example automatically creates a table, we have full control over > rendering using wiki templates, if we want to) > > ----------- #beginwiki of [[Map Features]] > {{#ask: [[Tag:foo=bar]] > | ?key = Key > | ?value = Value > | ?description = Description > }} > ----------- #endwiki > > > On yet another page we could include information about the map feature: > > ----------- #beginwiki of [[Yet another page]] The map feature > [[Tag:foo=bar]] is described as follows: > * Key: {{#show: Tag:foo=bar | ?key}} > * Value: {{#show: Tag:foo=bar | ?value}} > * Description: {{#show: Tag:foo=bar | ?description}} > ----------- #endwiki > > > I'd like to use SemanticWiki for the OSM wiki.
