Exactly the opposite according to my (Collins) dictionary: st abbrev. for short ton. St abbrev. for Saint. st. abbrev. for stanza, statute, (cricket) stumped by St. abbrev. for statute, Strait, Street Sta abbrev. for Saint (female).
