Welcome to OSM. You might be better off asking the question on the newbies mailing list, but I'll try to help. OSM gives you the ability to convert traces you made into streets and paths. You can do this through Potlatch on your PC. With Potlatch you can upload your traces you made with your phone. Using those traces you can create ways. The wiki has tutorials to help you get started. If you use another persons gpx traces, make sure that you have the right to map those traces into OSM. Again, the wiki can help you understand what you can and can't add. BTW, I use OSMTracker for Android to capture my gpx tracks and Mapzen POI Collector to capture points of interest. Good luck, Clifford
