Hallo Leutz,
ich bin echt am verzweifeln, ich habe seit Kernel 2.4.x Probleme mit PPP.
Nachdem ich am letzten Stammtisch schon einige Leute gefragt hatte, und
mittlerweile auch diverse Foren abgeklappert habe, frage ich nun mal
hier nach =)
Zuerst mal zu meinem System:
RedHat 7.0
Kernel 2.4.4
PPP 2.4.0-2
RP-PPPoe 2.8-1
Modutils 2.4.5
Nun zu meinem Problem:
Ich hab in "make xconfig" unter "Network Device Support" folgende Punkte
ausgewaehlt:
PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) Support
PPP Support for async Serial Ports
PPP Support for sync tty Ports
PPP Deflate Compression
PPP BSD-Compress Compression
PPP over Ethernet (Experimental)
(jeweils einmal mit "y" und einmal mit "m" ausgetestet.)
Wenn ich mich versuche mit /usr/sbin/adsl-start einzuwaehlen, verlaeuft
sich dieses in einem Timeout.
Die /var/log/messages schreibt folgendes:
Apr 7 03:04:03 linux adsl-connect: ADSL connection lost; attempting
re-connection.
Apr 7 03:04:08 linux pppd[1818]: This system lacks kernel support for
PPP. This could be because the PPP kernel
module could not be loaded, or because PPP was not included in the
kernel configuration. If PPP was included as a module,
try `/sbin/modprobe -v ppp'. If that fails, check t (dann ist schluss)
Ok mache ich halt das was mir gesagt wird:
/sbin/modprobe -v ppp
Dann kommt folgende Meldung:
modprobe: Can't locate module ppp
Da faengt es auch schon an, das Modul heisst naemlich nicht mehr "ppp.o"
sondern
"ppp_generic.o", welches laut "/sbin/modprobe ppp_generic" auch
vorhanden ist.
Ich habe auch mal versucht einen Symlink von "ppp_generic.o" auf "ppp.o"
zusetzten, bringt auch nichts, genauso wenig wie der Eintrag "alias ppp
ppp_generic" in die "/etc/modules.conf".
Hat vielleicht einer eine Loesung fuer mich parat ?
Da dies der erste Kernel ist, den ich mache, wuerde ich mich ueber Hilfe
freuen =)
