The problem with gmail is that changes in May have broken almost every e-mail client. Gmail needs OAUTH. This is supported in Version 10 of The Bat.
If you look in the account log for your gmail address , you will see "username and password not accepted" Note "not accepted". That is different from "invalid" or "not valid". Unless you actually need to send mail from a gmail address, just forward everything that arrives at your gmail address to an e-mail address on another domain. www.gmail.com.
