Hi everybody

Yesterday afternoon I took receipt of my brand new Focus 14 BlueBraille
display. And, for the size of the thing, what a device! As the owner of a
Focus 40 Blue, I was expecting excellent paper-like reading surface, along with
ultra-sharp Braille, and a complete control set. I’m delighted to be able to
report that I was in no way disappointed with my purchase. The display is
currently sitting on my knee charging from its AC fast-charge adapter. Freedom
says that the battery will take up to 3 hours to charge. But I think it will
take far less time than that. In the space of about 15 minutes, it’s gone from
0% charge, (would’t even power on) to 31% charged.

I have not yet used the device in conjunction with a screen-reader. But the
same paper-like feeling that the Focus 40 Blue offers the user is present here
on the Focus Blue 14 as well.

One thing that did strike me as “peculiar” is that the user guide makes
absolutely no reference to the carry case, yet you have to be very careful how
you insert the display as there are 4 clips which you have to ensure go into
the correct places, or else you’ll do serious damage to the device.

I’m really looking forward to pairing it with my Android portable and using
BrailleBack to enable Braille. I’m not sure how many simultaneous BlueTooth
connections it supports. I shouldn’t have used the word “Simultaneous”,
really, sorry, that was an error on my part. What I meant was how many devices
you can connect, then toggle between.

My compliments and kindest regards
