I thought those adapters already came with the iPhone 7? Don't know of course as I never saw fit to upgrade to that model.

I do take your point though, I bought a Philips pair of DAC headphones that plug directly into the Lightning port so I won't be using those on an Apple iPhone 8 should I indeed bother to buy one.

Perhaps a USB C Lightning Adapter may become available too?

I notice that Docks for iPhone and so on seem to be dead now, yes you can get them second -hand if you really want one and who wouldnt'! there are some truly superb Docks out there to be had for a song, the B&W Z2 is just one example which has a lightning dock, the older B&W Zeppelin models have dock connectors - both the original 30 pin or the lightning connector depending on the model you choose.

As for my external Oppo portable DAC I bought for use with my phones? It will work with any standard, Lightning, USB Micro and USB C amongst others.

They will make them but the issue I see is that people have already gone out
and bought lightning to 3.5 MM Jacks so they have wasted their money which is a

So they axed the 3.5mm headphone jack, only to ax the lightning port a year
later? What'll they do for headphones now? To my knowledge, they don't have
headphones with usb ends!

Hello everybody

Apple’s new 4.7 and 5.1-inch iPhone 8, to be released in September or October
of this year, will feature a new glass body, front-facing camera, no Home
button, USB connector (replaces the Lightning port, which Apple is phasing
out), wireless charging and new A11 processor for faster responsiveness.

With Edge-to-edge display, fingerprint sensor and varying capacities, Apple is
now following Samsung, it would seem. As I understand it, they are also trying
to make the iPhone thinner and lighter. That’s why they are ditching the
Aluminium case.

|The home button, again, as with Samsung’s new S8 Galaxy, has been dumped. I
also understand that, as with the iPhone 7S and 7S+, there will be no dedicated
audio connector.

Clearly, the battle of the smart phones is now hotting up. Seems to be that
Samsung has the edge, if you’ll pardon the pun, from where I’m standing.

It will be interesting to see what’s coming in iOS 11, scheduled for release
around the same time as the iPhone8. Definitely time to dump my old iPhone 5S I
think, and super-definitely time to dump my old third generation iPad. I
actually have a first generation iPad sitting in a drawer, but it doesn’t work
any longer. I just haven’t had the heart to dump it, as it was the second
device on which I learned to use iOS. Ah well, let battle commence!
