Hi! Thank you both for your quick answer, and for spending time with compiling my source. I hoped that I asked a typical FAQ question, but it seems now that there is some mysterious error in my installation.
I downloaded whole MusiXTeX & PMX from WIMA yesterday, so it is the last version, I hope. During installation I followed this HOWTO: http://icking-music-archive.org/software/musixtex/musixtex-for-unix.html I think I must repeat the whole installation process and pray for everything would get well. I remark that I had no problems recompiling barsant.pmx . I use Fedora Core 3 Linux with "builtin" TeX/LaTeX, if it matters. Cornelius C.
