Lestat has many fledglings. Most of them he loves very much. Not all of them are as strong as he lOVES lOUIE. Some did not make it to the twentieth century. Get to know Lestat's fledglings better, they are as interesting as Lestat himself.




Lestatâs first fledgling is his own mother, Gabrielle. There was no one whom he felt closer to than Gabrielle. There is a bond between Gabrielle and Lestat. They area two parts of the same soul, Gabrielle told Lestat that he is the male part of her. When she is dying, he brings her into immortality with him. They became lovers. Gabrielle quickly acquires her own strength and no longer needs Lestat to be her âmale part? She is completely androgynous, bold, tenacious, and practical. She embodies a sense of freedom that Lestat cannot grasp : freedom from gender, social roles, family expectations, and the demans for relationship. She is obsessed with finding truth and beauty in nature. In the end, her curiosity leads her away from the world and from Lestat.




Nicki was the merchantâs son, who befriends Lestat after Lestat kills the wolves. He invites Lestat to tell him about the battle and a bond forms between the two. Even so, the two are very different. Nicolas is full of cynicism and dark despair, while Lestat firmly believes in goodness. They ran away together to Paris to pursue their dream and career. After Magnus abducted Lestat and turn him into a vampire, Lestat avoids Nicolas, but sends him gifts. He also tells his lawyer to urge Nicolas to get out of Paris. However, Armand and his coven, who knew what Nicolas means to Lestat, abducted him. Lestat goes to rescue Nicolas and when Nicolas finds out what Lestat has become, he demanded that Lestat share the Dark Gift with him. Although Gabrielle warns Lestat against it, Lestat turns Nicolas into a vampire. This new level of intimacy only serves to distance Nicolas and Lestat further, and makes Nicolas more despondent and cynical. He admits that he hates Lestatâs exuberance and ability to triumph in the face of adversity. It becomes clear that Nicolas hates him and he finally leaves Nicolas behind at the Theater of the Vampires. In the end, Nicolasâs darkness consumed him and he goes into the fire to destroy himself.




When Lestat sees Louis, he senses in Louis an echo of Nicolas : an intense, self-destructive, and cynical nature, one filled with despair. Louisâs beauty, refinement, and dependence enchanted Lestat, and he makes Louis into a vampire. Yet they develop a problematic relationship because Louis is not Lestatâs equal in vampiric skill. Louis resents Lestat for being insensitive and not a very good mentor. In the end he simply stood by and watched when Claudia rise against Lestat, gaining freedom for them both. But when Louis and Lestat eventually reunite at Lestatâs rock concert, the love between them has evidently developed and grown. Lestat eventually forgives Louis for turning on him and denying to makes him into a vampire when he switches body with Raglan James. Their relationship becomes more intimate and closer.




Lestat make Claudia into a vampire simply because he wanted to keep Louis with him and because he wanted to play GOD. Lestat enjoys the little âfamily?that he has created, but Claudia eventually hates him for condemning her in a little girlâs body forever. After sixty-five-years of living together, her hatred deepened and she turn against Lestat. She poisoned him with dead blood and dumps his body in the swamp. Lestat survives and in the end she was punished because of her deed. She was expose to the sun and destroyed.

Although Lestat created Claudia because of his own selfishness, he eventually learns to love her. She was his âdaughter?and he treated her like a little girl. He gathers the best children dressmakers to make her clothes and buys her all kind of dolls. He also trusts her enough to drink from the dead boys.






David is the superior general of the Talamasca. Lestat visits him at Talamasca Headquarter and finds himself strongly attracted to him. He offered David the Dark Gift, but was rejected by David. They eventually become close friend. David claims that Lestat is his only friend and Lestat loves David for his understanding and acceptance. Lestat worries about Davidâs health at the age of seventy-four. Finally after his adventure with Raglan James and David got stuck in a young manâs body, Lestat force the Dark Gift on him. David eventually forgives Lestat and he became Lestatâs equal companion in vampirism. From time to time he wanders off on his own or joins the other vampires, but is always available for Lestat.
