MSNBC has just announced that 6 air strikes have been made along the Southern border of Iraq, hitting air defense, fiber optic communications and artillery positions, using 18 Stealth bombers.
They are saying the US is taking these emplacements out in "self defense" so that we can attack easier.
They are now showing cute animations and playing with scale models of the weapons the US will be using.
An analyst calls these "warning shots."
Call it what you want, but this means the war is on. It's only a matter of time before the "Mother of All Bombs" is set off.
It is now time to pray, my friends.
Pray for peace.
Pray for a quick end.
Pray that our government shows restraint and kindness whenever possible.
Pray that the government follows its promises of immediate food and health support of the Iraqi people.
Pray that Hussein chooses not to use chemical or biological weapons -- not that I believe that he even has any.
Pray that this is not the start of World War Three.
Pray that this is not Armageddon.
Pray that the world will one day forgive us of our tyranny, imperialism, hubris and ignorance.
Pray that Iraqis forgive us our trespassing.
Pray for those whose lives are being lost.
Pray for our troops, that they do not suffer the physical, spiritual and mental damage that those who fought in Vietnam and in the Gulf War I returned with.
Dear god, what are we doing?

I invite you to join me at Coventry and Euclid Heights this evening, as soon as they "officially" announce the war beginning, for prayer and vigil. I have a few candles, but please bring one with you if possible.
For those living downtown, join us at the Gazebo at Lincoln Park
For those on the West Side, go to Kamm's Corners.
