Well, I've read the tech brief posted on the 'planet'. Thank you!!!!!! I now understand Open Object a LOT better, and think I can start some customizations.
I had to read some good books on Python OOP though, because it was getting me very confused - I was a C++ programmer, though I haven't written code in many years. Python is strange, but powerful. Thanks @Oscar_Agreda and @Bounaberdi - I had a lot of trouble with the bzr explorer gui in the latest unstable release of bzr. So I downloaded the latest STABLE of bzr, and used the commandline, and was able to grab the source. Now my next step is to learn how Launchpad+bzr works. And I still can't setup a simple company in Australia. I agree with @rvalyi - I don't think OpenERP can be implemented by an 'average' person - I think strong programming skills are required - unless you are lucky enough to be located in a country where support is mature. Anyway, it means less competition for me. If just anybody could implement an Open Source ERP, how would I charge for my services? to summarize for other newcomers from outside the EU:
Learn Python. Then learn Python OOP (you will probably need to buy a book for this) Read openerp-book.pdf Study OpenERP Technical Memento (see openobject.com/planet) Figure out Launchpad and bazaar (bzr) and get the source code next step? I dont know - I'm still learning.
-------------------- m2f -------------------- -- http://www.openobject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=50989#50989 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ Tinyerp-users mailing list http://tiny.be/mailman2/listinfo/tinyerp-users
