Position Announcement

 

*Appointment:                  *Full-time tenure-track position at the 
rank of Assistant Professor. Area of specialization is open, but 
candidates with teaching and research interests in Developmental 
Psychology (broadly defined, including child clinical psychology) are 
especially encouraged to apply. Competitive salary and excellent

*Duties:*                         Primary responsibilities include: 
teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate students, including 
theses. Teaching responsibilities may include basic courses 
(Introduction to Psychology), courses related to developmental 
psychology, as well as, courses commensurate with the candidate's 
research specialty. Candidates are also expected to establish an active 
program of research that includes student involvement.

*Qualifications:*            A Ph.D. (or advanced ABD) in psychology at 
the time of appointment; evidence of scholarly activity; and a 
commitment to undergraduate teaching and graduate student supervision 
required. Pre-employment background checks are also required.

*Department:*               The Department of Psychology consists of 18 
tenured or tenure-track faculty, approximately 450 majors, 80 minors, 
and 30 masters students. Current emphasis areas at the M.A. level are 
Clinical Science, Social Psychology, and an Independent Study option, 
typically in Experimental Psychology.  

*University:*                  The University of Northern Iowa is a 
comprehensive mid-sized university and one of three state universities 
in Iowa, with an enrollment of just more than 13,000 students. The 
university has five undergraduate colleges, a graduate college, over 800 
faculty, and is a leading regional university in the Midwest.  

*Community:*               The Waterloo-Cedar Falls area has excellent 
schools, a population of approximately 120,000, and opportunities for 
applied research, consulting, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
