Several years ago I supervised research by one of my undergraduate students on "audioanalgesia," the use of music to reduce pain. Though a lot of our undergraduate studies eventually result in conference presentations or publications, this one never did--to my great disappointment. I would have taken great delight to co-author a paper on this topic with this particular student--Edward Payne--just for the reference to a study on pain mitigation by Payne and Herdegen (pronounced very nearly as "hurt-again").
