Hi Donie,

AFAIK you may have only cert per Tomcat,
identified by alias 'tomcat'. More certs 
selected by differing aliases would not work
due restrictions of the ssl-protocol (as some guys
stated in this list).

Did you already try wildcard certs, e.g. '*.subdomain.tld' 
or even '*.tld' ?
They might be expensive, but maybe they fit your needs.
