Actually there are species and sub species here. There is knowledge in general and then there is knowledge that comes from God. Actually ignorance is a form of knowledge.  Wisdom is the same there is the wisdom that comes from above that is pure, peaceable, and full of good fruit - then there is the other kind that is earthly, sensual, and demonic. So what are we involved with - are we an oracle for God in the earth or an oracle for the kingdom of Satan?   judyt

"Knowledge" could even be the rote memorization of Scripture, and "wisdom" could be the "understanding" of how to use that knowledge, the discernment of what to do with it.

Bill, Would you also agree that there are levels of understanding in scripture? I believe the Lord has given us written scriptures that can be received at different levels of understanding by people at different levels of spirituality; and yet all levels are equally true.  The deeper meaning is the most rewarding and gives the most understanding, but the shallow, superficial understanding is also true. That is one of the wonders of God’s Word.

BT: This is certainly the practical outworking of Scripture. This that you are speaking of, it seems to me, is the Holy Spirit moving us faithfully into greater and deeper and richer understanding. As we go to Scripture, He illuminates the words we read in a way such that they are addressing us personally, relationally, and thus meaningfully.

Please notice that rote memorization involves a participation between a subject (yourself) and an object (that which is being memorized).

Are you calling this “relationship”? What is the point?

BT: I'm just saying that even the most basic acquisition of knowledge involves skills which require  participation, a personal commitment on the part of the subject to receive from the object of study. Sorry if I confused you.
