Eu fiz isso, não quiz mexer na MBR ... resultado: depois de atualizar o Ubuntu, o Grub não prestou mais, não sei porquê. Ainda bem que consegui bootar pelo live cd e recuperar o grub seguindo um tuto da Wiki.
