tikky : If you tested the CD on another computer, that proves that the CD is OK, but that does not tell us if your CD drive has a hardware problem. What operating system do you have installed on that computer? It would be very important to do the test on that computer so we can know if it's bug or a hardware problem. I remember that Dell computers has a diagnostic utility partition. If you didn't erase that partition, it would be interesting to put your ubuntu CD in the CD drive, and then launch all Dell tests for that drive in the dell diagnostic utility.
