I personally believe that this should be a feature of the IM client.
The IM client should set the status based on anyone locking the screen
whether it is done by the FUSA applet or another mechanism.

I'm going to mark this bug as Invalid, not because I think that it is an
invalid use case, but more because I don't think it should be
implemented in FUSA.  Please file it with the IM client you are using.

To get the source of any package in Ubuntu you can do:

    apt-get source <package name>

Where for FUSA that would be:

    apt-get source fast-user-switch-applet

But, in this case the patch you're interested in is maintained in
Bazaar, so it would probably be easier to create a branch and edit it
there.  You can then do a merge proposal.
