I just found a (temporary) solution to this problem: on my laptop Ubuntu 8.04, when I launch Thunderbird from the console when the window is docked to the top of the screen or to one side of the screen, the program starts normally, while when I launch Thunderbird from a console that is "floating" (e.g. no docked) I get that Bad Window error.
It also succeded when I launched Thunderbird from the Applications menu, while the console window was docked, while is the console was "floating" Thunderbird didn't start. It seems to me that everything is related to the presence (or the absence) of a single "floating" window, if there are only docked windows (consoles, or firefox), then Thunderbird starts normally. -- Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 does not start up when Compiz Desktop Effects are installed (Kubuntu 8.04) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222560 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
