Right after updating the firmware (manually overwriting) with 15.28.1.8 wireless started working perfectly (from barely connecting or having 30% packet loss to the router).
I have 2.6.27-8 without backports (as they are broken right now for the wifi, already reported), and with disable_hw_scan=1 in modprobe.d .
