What filesystem were the files copied to/from ie ntfs, reiser, etc.
I can see you confirmed that the files were copied correctly.
I also believe this is due to hard drive blocks/sectors not being fully written
to, but this isn't a linux problem I wouldn't have thought.
Nevertheless I will confirm this bug as I have seen this happening on my system
before using rsync to save onto my Windows partition when I used to update the
daily Ubuntu testing isos.
