I confirm this bug. Same symptoms on my ASUS A7J. I spent a huge amount of time trying hard to dig and solve this problem. Suspend to ram did not worked neither on 7.10, 8.04 and 8.10 nor on some other linux distributions such as Mandriva and Fedora.
