I am getting a very similar thing. It seems to have just happened very recently (between the last 2 days).
There is a slight difference though. I still get sound from the front plate of my Audify2zs but have lost all the sound from the rear. In the Volume Control application under the devices combo box I get a "Playback: ALSA PCM on front:0" but I do NOT have a rear at all.
