Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help to improve
Ubuntu.
In current versions of Ubuntu, the /etc/acpi/hibernate.sh script is not
involved at all in hibernation. The acpi-support package itself is
deprecated and being phased out. Whether or not your system hibernates
in response to requests is determined by your desktop policy (i.e.,
gnome-power-manager or kpowersave) and should be configurable there.
