Till, I am strongly concerned that this is not a problem with CUPS-PDF, because the problem occurs while printing to some printers also. I do think it's something with DejaVu metrics. Substituting it with any other font solves the trouble. CUPS-PDF is merely one of possible printers to test the issue against. Something happens while printing using DejaVu font, no matter what printer you use.
