If you'd have actually used the specified KDE version on Dapper, you#d have seen the bug. It was ok in KDE 3.5.3, broken in 3.5.4-0ubuntu1~dapper and fixed again in KDE 3.5.5. It also works in KDE 3.5.5 from edgy, which I'm using now. Though in that version, text will loose its bold attribute while it is highlighted.
