The bug as posted by the OP is not applicable directly necessarily to
the comments by levien, and may be considered to be not a deuplicate
bug.
This is because the bug that this bug is referred to as a duplicate of
refers to a graphics card that can use the 177+ nvidia drivers. Also,
often the solution to that bug seems often to be downgrading to the 173
series driver.
However, the OP posted specifically about a bug for a graphics card that
is *unable* to use the 177+ drivers! I have the exact same graphics
driver, and I have the exact same problem, and solutions relative to the
177+ drivers are unapplicable to me, or the OP. So, this bug should not
be marked as duplicate.
