Okay I see. The problem is I have no "standard" laptop but one assembled, based 
on a barebone and customized. The barebone I have is of course no longer 
available and I don't have any clue on what it is except the informations given 
by lspci et al. If useful, the company that sold me the laptop is called 
Transtec, based in Germany. May a special BIOS or customization from them alter 
something and lead to this problem??? I don't think so.

Just to remember: this issue reproduces on a live Jaunty too (no KMS, no 
hacking 
from me)…
