I downgraded back to Intrepid (Jaunty was not functional for me; too many bugs) and installed OOo 3.0 from http://ppa.launchpad.net/openoffice-pkgs/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main. I do not have the OOo launcher there, thus no problems to report.
