I am taking my comment from yesterday, that it work in Jaunty, back. It show exactly as the same symptom as when we use the HAL policy Leann suggested on hardy, that is: the microphone on the webcam works no problem until the camera is used once, then it stops working and arecord report IO an error.
So, I guess the title of the bug should be changed, and the status of the bug in "linux (Ubuntu)" should be set to "triaged".
