Wine will recommend the ttf-mscorefonts-installer package (and thus
install it by default).
We already recommend ttf-liberation, and Wine itself ships tahoma and
symbol, however these fonts combined aren't enough as you've noticed.
Anyway I've already made the change in the beta packages, thanks for
reporting!
