This bug was reported as requested by Bryce(?) in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/KernelModeSetting. I updated it for the 2.6.30-10-generic kernel before learning that KMS was enabled by default and that i915 drivers were blacklisted for this mode, as indeed KMS does not work on Intel 855GM [8086:3582] and >2.6.30-8-generic kernels. Xorg is now upgraded to exploit the mode.
2.6.30-10-generic kernels should now boot fine in terms of KMS. Problems are likely something else (see Karmic forum). A pity we lost kms but there you ae.... -- KMS leads to i915 Xorg/ system hang on boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/387978 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
