Funny. I just burned an iso file to a DVD+RW and here it is the opposite: - duringg burn, the speed is reported as a multiple of DVD (5555 KiB/s 4.1x) - when finished, it uses CD units : 5544 KiB/s (32.2x)
The iso file was karmic-desktop-i386.iso (alpha2).
