I'm on an acer 4420 and having this problem too. I'm a linux newbee,
but I'd be happy to provide any reports that might help.

With that said, being a linux newbee, it was a little frustrating
wondering why my computer would automatically shut off the first 6 times
I booted up ubuntu. I hope I haven't damaged my computer, and I can't
imagine that, with ubuntu's reputation as the easiest linux dist to use,
that nobody has not damaged his hardware. Further, is it true that the
only person working on this is trying to figure out why computer
overheats after a hibernate reboot, even though everybody who has
responded has said that they experience this problem after a clean boot?

I'll wait a couple more weeks, but this bug renders my laptop nearly
unusable, and I'll simply have to go back to windows.
