@raronson Your argument seems to be that if all the other file browsers jump off of a cliff, we should, too? Why do the opinions of people who actually use Nautilus matter less than those of Windows or Mac users? The focus should be more on making Nautilus easy to use, and less on making it "Just Like Windows (TM)". Just because Windows users are familiar with it doesn't mean its actually the most usable configuration.
Yet the trash being visible on the desktop is "the expectation of users coming from Win/Mac. This should eclipse the personal preferences of people who already use Unbuntu and ojbect.".
