I'm getting *very* similar behavior in Jaunty on a Biostar P4M900 MB w/ 2.4GHz P4. Lots of random self-closing apps *and* X crashes/restarts. I was recently (but barely) able to get the system up-to-date against the standard update channels after numerous repeat invocations of apt-get due to recurring segfaults. I also get a lot of "corrupted" X display situations if I try to switch to another console (Alt + F1) after one of the X crashes.
All of the aforementioned behavior occurs with GDM/GNOME, however, this box seemed to be running fine until I recently installed KDE4 (via kubuntu-desktop) in order to test-drive it. Could be just a coincidence. The only non-normal piece of this system is my use of ATAoE as my main drive/root partition, but I don't see any IO or filesystem issues. I was starting to conclude that it was a hardware issue until a saw this bug, but now I'm not so sure. The only symptom that makes me still want to say "hardware" is because I also have Windows on this machine and do seem to have some random app crashes in it as well. I don't have a lot of time to work on the system, but let me know if my input would help with this bug and I'll do my best to post logs or whatever. Much thanks if you guys figure this out and release a fix! -- lots of freezes and segfaults https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/358741 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
