Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mplayer
Trying to set up MPlayer to display ASS subtitles, I found that it uses a compiled-in version of libass instead of the installed shared library. Why is that? The separate libass package can be kept up to date more easily, as well as shared with other programs of course. Please fix this shortcoming. Karmic has these versions: MPlayer 2:1.0~rc3+svn20090426-1ubuntu5 libass 0.9.6-1 Newer packages found in PPAs: MPlayer svn20090831r29604 libass 0.9.7-0ubuntu1~ppa0 I've no idea which versions of libass the MPlayer packages have built into them, which is quite annoying when I want it to use the most recent version for the best ASS subtitle support. ** Affects: mplayer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- mplayer should use the shared libass instead of a compiled-in version https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/423643 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
