"Karmic kernel" is referring to the Linux kernel as packaged by Ubuntu for Karmic. It is a customized version of the Linux kernel, most distributions release their own customized versions. The acx100 driver you need for your card is not actually part of the Linux kernel, it was conveniently included in the kernel with previous releases but removed for the mentioned reasons. It is developed by a third party.
I am going to mark this as invalid as it appears the lack of a driver is by design due to questions with the source code. I would not expect this to be different with the released version of Karmic, although you are free to download and compile the driver and install it manually yourself if you are not worried about the code. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- wifi card not recognized in ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/428276 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
