Relevant output from lspci: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) If I boot with headphones plugged in, sound comes from both headphones and front speakers. Unplugging and replugging headphones corrects this problem. If I mute audio, and then unmute audio with headphones plugged in, sound comes from both headphones and front speakers. Again, unplugging and replugging headphones corrects this problem.
