Some progress here. I have tryed disablebing the addons one by one as I have suspected the Greasemonkey would be interfering on Gmail and other AJAX sites
No good, still had the same problem. So I have tried to uninstall them, still nothing. I have finally decided to start from scratch and have unistalled firefox together with every single related package with apt-get autoremove --purge, than, manually remove every folder that had somehow been left behind (including ~/.mozilla and /usr/lib/firefox-addons) A fresh installation with apt-get install ubufox got me back with firefox3.5 as a mandatory dependency (together with a few other binaries). Now I have firefox (still 3.5.3+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu6) working on those sites I have been complaining before, including gmail (where I am writing this email) The thing is, now I have no idea on what amongst the things I had done actually solved the problem. A final comment, since I had upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10, I had both firefox 3.5 and 3.0 installed and listed as ii in my dpkg --list | fgrep firefox and I had removed both of them... not sure how one could test the concomitant presence of both version without an actual upgrade (which I cannot redo right now) but it be a real shame if after the upgrades many users endup without a working firefox installed. 2009/10/23 Waldir Leoncio <[email protected]> > Presunto, thanks a lot for your reply.
