I found what my issue was: I don't use NetworkManager. Upon launching "ubuntuone-client-applet" from the terminal, I saw the output:
ERROR:dbus.proxies:Introspect error on org.freedesktop.NetworkManager:/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager: dbus.exceptions.DBusException: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.NetworkManager was not provided by any .service files Which led me to this launchpad post: https://bugs.launchpad.net /ubuntuone-client/+bug/452575 Apparently, Ubuntu One requires NetworkManager. Here are the problems with this: 1) The Ubuntu One package does not pull in or warn that NetworkManager is a dependency. 2) I replace NetworkManager with wicd on every (K)Ubuntu install, which has far less issues imho. 3) Still no manual way to add a computer via the applet or through the web interface is going to cause problems for people with setups like me, or even like the above, when NetworkManager *is* installed. Solution: Allow for manual adding of computers. -- deleted computer ubuntu one, cannot add again - files not syncing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458627 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
