I have the same problem with my Home Theater system: Asus M2NPV-VM with Nvidia onboard video chipset. After the silver Mythbuntu logo the screen remains black and X doesn't start. If I choose failsafe mode all I got are blinking VTs. I will try tomorrow to change AGP settings, but it's difficult to understand such a big step back in the installation experiences (it's the first time in two years I can't install Ubuntu on that machine). I tried with a livecd and with usb startup.
