Yes I realize that. However, my _hope_ is that by providing additional information on a system that does have a printer+scanner but exibits the same xsane startup, the dev's will be able to sort out both issues as I suspect that they are related.
Can you check your syslog & capture the same info when your printer is turned on/off & attach the the bug?
