Latest update: 2.6.31-16 provided some relief for a few days here on this same machine, but no longer. I have no idea what caused a renewal of this same problem, but it started with major, MAJOR problems trying to print OOo Writer documents (screen flashing wildly, then the entire system seizing up), after which I used synaptic to remove most, if not all components of Ubuntu OpenOffice.org. I then tried restarting my system, and couldn't. 2.6.31-16 has not been successful since then. I now have to start under 2.6.31-14 every time once again.
Is there even any hint as to what is causing this? Am I alone in experiencing this? Is there any information I can provide?
