A while ago I even went back to 9.04, but even that release proved to have a slow compiz. Since I did a clean install, the only thing I can think of that may upset everything is the fact that I kept my home partition, which may contain some settings that make compiz behave badly. I have not yet found the time to try another installl, this time resetting my home partition as well. I have switched of all effects for now, which is a shame, as it means I cannot use awn (which I like a lot).
